The Culture and Creative Industries (CCI) have helped turn Berlin into one of Europe's most attractive metropoles for creative professionals and young talent. The lively and dynamic artistic and cultural scene has led Berlin to become a Creative City, with new spaces regularly opening up and increasing revenues being generated as a result. Start-ups from the worlds of fashion, design, architecture and marketing as well as larger and more established companies operating in the realms of music, IT, gaming and media all use Berlin as the hub to reach new customers in their respective markets. Adding to Berlin's appeal is its affordable locational factors, its low cost of living, and of course the allure of being a hip, international and tolerant city.
The "Management of Creative Industries" master's programme has been specifically designed to span several sectors of the creative industry. It's the first study programme to employ a holistic approach to proactively address the dramatic changes soon to affect the industry and runs successfully for 4 years at the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences. The course structure is accommodating for those already working in the industry, because the lectures take place on Friday and Saturday. Seminars and lectures are held in English - the working language of most companies active in the CCI.

Management of Creative Industries in Berlin

The master's degree in Management of creative industries is primarily aimed at graduates from related subjects such as general management studies including, but not limited to specialisations such as tourism, fashion, media and event management, as well as business communication. The course was labelled "very good" by the well-known CHE Ranking of the time. The course has been running very successfully at bbw Hochschule for four years. In order to get a better picture of the results, we would like to inform you that some theses will be published on the website www.creativeindustries.berlin ; here you can also get a better understanding of what this master's content is all about.

The master's course focuses on management issues. In a relatively small group, the students' study in interdisciplinary course with other graduates of different nationalities and professional backgrounds.

With the bbw master's degree in Management of Creative Industries, graduates in the first final grades have been able to establish themselves not only in management positions in the creative industries but also in innovation management and risk financing in the traditional business environment. Own start-ups have also been successfully founded. The curriculum is systematically designed and taught with a high level of practical relevance. In the Methods of Creative Industries module, a business simulation is carried out in which the students simulate the management of an escape room company.

  • With Advanced ICT the students explore the ICT ecosystem of tomorrow and beyond.
  • Digital entrepreneurship treats different business models in the platform economy.
  • Strategic financial planning treats financial, Managing talents HR issues and specificities of CCI management, Contracts and agreements (legal) looks into the work of related lawyers.
  • Productions, making, prototyping - 3 D printing is a hands-on course to develop own modes with 3D printers.
  • Community driven marketing explains the holistic importance of community building in all of the platform driven CCI's.
