International Process Simulation Challenge

How bbw created a unique learning experience with Tunisian university partners Esprit

On the weekend of December 14-16, 2018, a team from our partner university Esprit in Tunis, came to Berlin as part of the DAAD-sponsored German-Arab short-term measures programme. The Esprit team comprised of 13 staff and engineering students who spent the first half of the weekend training bbw Master's students in the International Technology Transfer Management (ITTM) programme the "Flexsim" process modelling software. Held in English, the training consisted of four workshops on Friday night and Saturday, with individual hands-on supported provided by a member of the Esprit team at every step.

On Satuday afternoon, once the ITTM students had learned more than just the basics of the programme, they were given a modelling challenge they were to solve in teams of four within 10 hours. The team with the best solution would win internships at one of two partner firms also supporting the event, Volkswagen Bosnia & Herzegovina and Berlin rail consultancy firm Nextrail. Flexsim provided the licenses for the weekend, and also gave the winning four ITTM students year-long access to the student version of the program to further hone their skills in process simulation modelling.

Mentoring Programme

The Mentoring Programme is especially organized for all the new international students of each semester. Studying in a different city always brings up a lot of questions. With this programme all the new international students will meet mentors, which are also students (national & international) from the bbw University. They will answer questions about studying at the bbw University, the city and different procedures. This programme will be held twice in a month and is a supportive activity for all new international students.
