Current Information from bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Science Coronavirus

Dear students and prospective students,

a truly exceptional summer semester 2020 lies behind us, an equally exceptional winter semester 2020/21 has just begun. The corona pandemic has also changed teaching and research in and at our university. It has become quiet in the house and we can say: We really miss the personal contact and conversation with you and hope that next year this will be possible again as usual. But currently health protection takes priority. In doing so, we strictly adhere to the guidelines and recommendations of the responsible Senate Chancellery Higher Education and Research Berlin and the RKI.

After the lockdown in March, we managed to offer the entire teaching - that was about 25,000 hours in the summer semester at our university - completely online within a few days. The feedback from you about the online semester was very positive. We would like to thank you very much for this. It also encourages us to enter the winter semester, which has just begun, with optimism. Our primary goal was and is to do everything possible to enable you to study within the standard period of study. We have invested time and money in order to be able to study without restrictions even under constantly changing conditions. And we will continue to do so. New technology, new methods, new processes: we are constantly reviewing and improving our approach, our service and our work. For studies without cutbacks.

Stay safe.

Information on Studying During the Corona Pandemic

According to the Infection Protection Ordinance and the Berlin Step-by-Step Plan, all Berlin universities have been conducting their teaching online since the 2nd November 2020. In justified cases, the universities may grant limited access to individuals. Within the bbw Hochschule, students are required to wear a mouth-nose cover.

Notes on Handling the Coronavirus

It goes without saying that bbw Hochschule follows the health and safety recommendations of the experts and the specifications of the responsible authorities.

According to the ninth regulation amending the SARS-CoV-2 infection protection regulation and the Berlin step-by-step plan for university operations under pandemic conditions, the opening of universities to the public is prohibited until the 31st March 2021. From the 2nd of November 2020, teaching will generally be conducted in online formats. The library will remain open at the known times.

In justified cases, the universities may grant limited access to persons. If you are at the bbw Hochschule in such a case, the following still applies:

  • in all permitted practice formats (e.g. special lab rooms), wearing a mouth and nose protector is mandatory, for both teachers and students,
  • in offices: if more than one person is present, wearing a mouth and nose protector is mandatory.

Studying in Times of Corona

In the course of the Corona Pandemic, bbw Hochschule Berlin has had to convert all lectures, exams, services and consultations to online formats. And since the summer semester 2020, with success! This enables our students to complete their studies within the standard period of study without any loss of time and gives prospective students an up-to-date insight into university life.

In order to continue to support prospective students in choosing a suitable degree programme and to provide you with an up-to-date insight, we have compiled various services and information on our online teaching and digital formats. Events, such as information events, study counselling or taster lectures, which were previously held in attendance, have been converted and are now offered as online events. Take a virtual tour of our university, register for an online taster lecture or use our online study counselling service.

You can find more information on our digital offer and impressions of our online teaching here .
