The offer of the Institute for Academic Continuing Education of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences (iawb) includes various products for the development and implementation of continuing education measures on an academic level. In addition to certificate courses, the iawb also offers cooperative doctoral programme conducted in cooperation with the renowned Budapest Business School - University of Applied Sciences.

- Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)
- First Phase: Training & Research phase (4 semesters)
- Second Phase: Research & Dissertation phase (4 semesters - should not be exceeded)
- In your PhD programme you need to complete obligatory and elective courses and do research work
- Tuition Fee: 750 EUR per month (36.000 EUR total)
- Financing options: tax-deductible as training costs, use of scholarship programmes possible

Entry Requirements
- Master Degree

- Former research experience (publication) is advantageous
- Research topic fitting to one of the thesis topics announced by our supervisors or own topic proposals
- Incontestable funding background (private, stipendium, corporate support, etc.) to cover tuition expenses all along the programme (2+2 years)
Cooperation Partner Budapest Business School University of Applied Sciences
Our partner school has 17.000 students, it is largest University of Applied Sciences in Hungary. It provides full portfolio of Bachelor and Master programmes in Business and Management. University has three faculties: Faculty of International Management & Business, Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality & Tourism and Faculty of Finance & Accountancy. They have a broad international network with more than 200 higher education institutes in 40 countries on five continents, with more than 1.100 foreign students studying at Budapest Business School.
The Doctoral School of Entrepreneurship and Business was established in 2018 and is accredited by Hungarian Accreditation Committee (HAC). This is the very first Doctoral School in Hungary established by a University of Applied Sciences. It focuses on entrepreneurship, SMEs and family businesses. Since 2019 two PhD courses were conducted.
Promotion Programme
Training and Research Phase
- 1. semester: literature, annotation, citing
- 2. semester: methods (research model, variables, hypotesis, sampling, data base, qualitative and quantitative data gathering methods)
- 3. semester: results (analyzing data base, testing, presenting results)
- 4. semester: discussion & conclusion, hypothesis testing, thesis
Research and Dissertation Phase
- Doctoral candidate works on thesis on a tailor-made, individually scheduled way
- Present a detailed research plan with a schedule and milestone deadlines with supervisor
- Present the actual state of progress to a panel of doctoral school members
- Presentations are publicly open, doctoral candidates are encouraged to participate regularly on these sessions
