On 19 September 2025, bbw University of Applied Sciences hosted a special meeting as part of #DFF - Das Führungsforum (The Leadership Forum). Executives from organisations in the capital region were invited to the Adlershof campus to gain a deeper insight into the landscape of private universities of applied sciences in Berlin and Brandenburg.

It became clear right from the introduction that not all universities are the same.

Leadership, Kirch continues, must actively facilitate this change - for example, by promoting new, practical forms of cooperation. At bbw University, numerous approaches are being taken to achieve this, including:

Involvement of companies in course development via advisory boards
Offer of dual study programmes
Lecturers with extensive leadership experience in business
Practical lectures, case studies, company visits and practical theses
Project work in the style of hackathons or pitches
Joint research projects with companies
Placement of working students and internships
Reflection formats such as the innovative 'Coaching Zone' module
Active involvement of alumni in teaching and network building

All these measures show that practical transfer, innovation and leadership are inextricably linked.
At the same time, they require excellent management and a high degree of commitment - on the part of both teaching staff and management. At bbw University of Applied Sciences, this is a lived reality and a clear commitment.

Because if you want to shape the future, you have to enable change - every single day.
