Prof. Dr. Juan Ocampo - New Program Director for Sustainability and Smart Building Technology

bbw University of Applied Sciences is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Juan Ocampo as the new Professor and Program Director of the Master's program Sustainability and Smart Building Technology in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

Prof. Ocampo combines technological expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and international experience. After completing his studies in Mechatronics in Mexico, he began his career at Gulfstream Aerospace in the United States and now looks back on more than 15 years of experience in technology entrepreneurship. As a Venture Partner at High Rise Ventures (HRV), he supports start-ups in the fields of Smart Building Technologies and Sustainability. In addition, he founded the cybersecurity company Skyflare and served as COO of the Berlin-based IoT start-up Rysta GmbH.

He has gained international experience through innovation programs in Denmark and China, while also contributing in Germany as a jury member in national start-up competitions. Academically, he has an interdisciplinary background, holding degrees from TU Berlin and HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.

Since 2019, Prof. Ocampo has been enriching bbw University - first as a lecturer, later as a co-developer of the Startup Center. With his international perspective and passion for sustainable technologies, he will inspire future professionals in the digital and sustainable construction and real estate industries as Program Director and mentor.
