Regional Transformation Network for the Berlin-Brandenburg Vehicle Industry

The vehicle and supplier industry is facing a complex situation of upheaval. The global climate crisis requires a consistent switch to electric traction, digitalisation is profoundly changing product development and production processes. In addition, the industry has to deal with the opportunities and risks of future mobility concepts and services.

The BMWK project "Regional Transformation Network Berlin-Brandenburg" (ReTraNetz BB) addresses these complex challenges and pursues the goal of providing effective support to the vehicle and supplier industry located in the Berlin-Brandenburg region with regard to the associated transformation requirements.

A cross-border consortium of business promoters, social and collective bargaining partners, training providers and scientific institutions - flanked by the ministries responsible for economic affairs in Berlin and Brandenburg - has joined forces to maintain and expand the performance of the affected companies in the region by accelerating transformation processes.

Development and promotion of new business models as well as innovation hubs in the field of mobility based on digitalisation and networking

On the basis of a targeted needs assessment in the regional companies of the vehicle industry, the digital economy and other relevant sectors, innovative business models are proposed that are tested in real laboratories and implemented in cooperation projects and innovation hubs. This will make an important contribution to diversifying the product range and securing employment. In addition, corresponding qualification potentials are identified and further training products are proposed.

Assessment of needs in the regional companies
Analysis and clustering of needs, identification of potentials
Networking of partners, planning of expert discussions and workshops to initiate innovation projects
Testing in real laboratories, setting up innovation hubs
Deriving qualification needs and developing qualification products

A great advantage of the ReTraNetz project is that problems can be solved together in a network. This applies to the companies themselves as well as to the networking of a pool of experts for the technological, social and economic challenges of the transformation process.

Ultimately, the people who act are decisive for a successful transformation. The VME and the bbw Group therefore place particular emphasis on identifying corporate needs in education and training. This should result in qualification products that make the staff in the companies fit for the future.
