Bachelor
(Bachelor of Engineering)

Mobility, transport, logistics and electrical engineering belong together closely. They are a topic of the future. Especially at Deutsche Bahn, which is one of the most important mobility service providers in Germany. At the same time, it also includes one of the largest engineering firms, DB Engineering & Consulting, which with around 10,000 engineers plans, implements, monitors and manages infrastructure construction projects that are unique in Europe, such as bridges, tunnels, stations, power lines and rail networks. Engineers from our company are also involved and more are needed.

That's why the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, together with Deutsche Bahn and other regional companies, offers dual training for electrical engineers specialising in "control and safety technology" and "traction power supply and overhead lines". They are involved where great things are created that will last for decades.

We support our partner companies in the long term in their efforts to secure the next generation of employees. Find out more about studying at the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences in Berlin here.

Overview

The dual study programme offered comprises two study phases differentiated: The basic study programme in electrical engineering and the railway-specific special study programme.

The four-semester basic study programme is based on the Electrical Engineering of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences. It comprises the basic engineering sciences Core subjects, which are covered by basic modules in economics and law can be added.

Within the framework of the railway-specific special study programme, students acquire for activities in the field of planning and development of track-bound Transport systems specific knowledge in "control and security technology" or "traction power supply and overhead contact lines".

All examinations are carried out during the course of study and are recognised according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). The Bachelor's programme ends with a company-related Bachelor Thesis.

Prospects following studies

Industrial Engineering dual at bbw Hochschule

This study course opens extensive career opportunities for our graduates.
The subject of Electrical Engineering covers a very wide field. Electrical engineers have correspondingly wide-ranging areas of operation. They have opportunities to launch a career in both production technology and communication technology. Other potential career fields include research, medical technology or energy economics.
Electrical engineers are basically responsible for configuring electronic systems according to requirements, installing and monitoring them. These systems may be production machines in a factory or the solar or wind power plants of private or commercial customers.

A railway-related specialization opens up additional professional perspectives. In this field, the tasks facing electrical engineers are chiefly concerned with distributing the electrical energy in the rail network and transforming it into driving power in the vehicle.

Other fields of opportunity beckon in communications and in Control and Safety systems. A major area of interest where electrical engineers are indispensable is Construction supervision. They are responsible for configuring, designing and testing new construction elements, vehicles and systems as well as planning and supervising them during the manufacturing process. Depending on their specialisation, they can find employment in the fields of efficient generation and distribution of electricity, processing and analysing measurement data, or quality assurance.
