The German electronics industry employs some 830,000 workers in 18 sectors. This makes it the second largest industrial sector in the country. The future lies in the development of high-tech systems. This would be inconceivable without engineers with the right kind of qualifications - such as an electrical engineering degree.

In future, the main focus for electrical engineers will be in the energy and medical sectors. Both of these fields are forecast to experience long-term economic growth. Large investments will be made into medical research, in particular, because the permanent, continuous development of existing technologies and the development of new ones is a never-ending quest.

The Bachelor of Engineering degree qualifies our students for top-grade roles, in which they will combine well-founded theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The examinations can be taken and the title of Engineer awarded after eight semesters. By funding a course of studies, companies are supporting their new up and coming university-level technical staff.

The Study Programme

The Electrical Engineering degree programme is offered as an online presence programme, whereby the proportion of physical presence lectures at the university amounts to approximately 25% of the degree programme. The attendance proportion is published with a corresponding planning lead time at the start of the semester. The attendance times are mainly used for the required practical parts of the study programme, such as exercises, laboratory work and examinations. This study model gives you maximum flexibility when it comes to choosing your place of study.

Mobile studying enables you to take part in courses anywhere in Germany, regardless of your current situation. Regardless of whether you live and work in Munich, Cologne, Hamburg or Berlin, with us you can comfortably complete your Bachelor's degree from home. In this way, we offer you a high degree of compatibility between your job, even if you work 40 hours a week, your family and your studies. To ensure your study success, we rely on various digital learning tools plus personal support. Our digital formats include:

Online presence lectures via WebEx or MS Teams
Video tutorials
Moodle learning platform incl. teaching materials
Online consultation hours with lecturers
Online exams and oral exams
Homework and project work as final performance

The part-time course takes place on two evenings per week from 6:00 pm - 9:15 pm and on two Saturdays per month from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.

Study Content

Course of Study

The programme is divided into basic and specialised studies.

In the Basic Studies you will primarily acquire engineering basic knowledge and are supported in the acquisition of social and communicative skills and the development and mastery of scientific working methods. They also learn to analyse complex operational problems and to find solutions. In this way, you will expand and strengthen the skills you have acquired during your studies and in practice for later application in your job. Interdisciplinary subjects round off the basic study programme.

The goal of strengthening the profile through early orientation towards industry-related occupational fields, the industry-oriented Advanced Studies programme serves this purpose. Here you acquire basic knowledge of electrical engineering. This enables them to develop their career prospects to be more specific to this sector.

The Bachelor's programme concludes with a practice-oriented Bachelor's thesis and the award of the academic degree "Bachelor of Engineering".

a vocational qualification eligible for the course of studies (according to Section 11 Berlin University Act) or
a certificate as a master craftsman, state-examined technician or state-examined business administrator.
