For us, our alumni are an important part of our history and also represent our future. They are our graduates and carry the knowledge gained during their study period out into the world. They have successfully completed their studies and are now working in the occupation for which they prepared. We can all be proud of this fact. We are especially pleased when our alumni feel an affinity with their bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences, wish to remain in contact with us and are proud to have studied here. The aim of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences is also to dynamically further develop in the future as well, and also that one graduate or another will enhance everyday university life one day - for example as a lecturer from real life, as a successful manager in the economic world, or as a keynote speaker during a matriculation ceremony.
I have always wanted to start my own business and wrote my 5th SCA, a term paper in my bachelor's degree, about founding ideas. That didn't let me go. In the study cases we learned a lot about viable ideas, business plans and talked to sparring partners about USPs, market conquest strategies and customer needs. That kept me very busy. But for a long time it was not clear what it could become. My co-founder and I, we had many interesting ideas, for example a fitness restaurant, but in the end we always asked ourselves, does anyone really need this? What can we be totally enthusiastic about? It should be a company that runs online, but also one that does something more important than just e-commerce or, for example, lifestyle products. When we worked together on the idea in a 'Funpreneur-Competition‛, my co-founder and I knew that we just wanted to do something that solved practical problems, something that was really relevant to people and could improve their lives.
For me, Germany has always been a beautiful country that I wanted to get to know and to study there - a dream. That's why I had already learned German at school for two years and later three years at university. My choice was not Munich, but Berlin. This city was unbeatably cheap: bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences looked nice on the Internet and had just launched a new technology transfer course in 2016, one year earlier, especially for international students. I really wanted to be there for the second round. I'm very pleased that it actually worked out and I've never regretted it. When I look back today, I am very grateful that we had so much support at our university - even in the last few metres before starting my career. If I hadn't had my German friends and such good contacts at the university, former colleagues - from the Carreer Service to the Chancellor - and professors who encouraged and encouraged us internationally, I might actually have returned to India much too soon. They have helped me to understand what is important here.
Under the motto "Meet again, networking, career planning, good conversations", Prof. Lucht, head of the real estate courses of study, initiated the real estate alumni network meeting. This new event format takes place regularly twice a year. All graduates and current students of the bachelor's degree courses in Real Estate Management and the master's degree courses in Real Estate Project Management, entrepreneurs in the real estate industry as well as professors and lecturers of the university are invited. Highlights of the events are keynote speakers from the industry and of course the subsequent networking event with drinks and snacks. The event was very well received by all participants. Students currently have the chance to talk to graduates, make contacts and network. The aim is to build up a larger and larger community and to be in close contact and exchange about current topics.
