Erasmus+ sponsors visiting lecturers at European partner universities who are in possession of a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). Through their stay, visiting lecturers are intended to reinforce the European dimension of the host university, extend the teaching provision of the university and communicate their specialist knowledge to students who do not wish to or are not able to spend time studying abroad.
Depending on what is possible, the development of common study programmes in the partner universities should also play a role here, as should the exchange of teaching content and methods. In addition, staff from foreign companies and other organisations can also be invited to German universities for teaching purposes.
Personnel mobility visits must take place in a country in the programme which is not the country of the sending university (with the exception of Incoming mobility - see below) and not the main place of residence of the person in question.
University staff of a German university with ECHE may be sponsored to go to an accepting university with ECHE for teaching purposes (outgoing mobility). Likewise, personnel of any other institution based in a country in the programme which is active in the jobs market or in the area of general and professional training may be sponsored to go to a German university with ECHE for teaching purposes (incoming mobility). Such teaching visits within Europe are of a duration of between 2 days and 2 months (in each case not including travelling time); the teaching requirement amounts to at least 8 hours per visit or per week which has commenced.
