Welcome Days of the International Students
The start of a course of study always means the start of a new phase in life, which brings many new and unfamiliar challenges. To ensure that all international new students arrive well at the bbw Hochschule, the International Office organised, as usual, a welcome programme for the start of this year's winter semester. In times of Covid-19, the International Office continues to offer students a digital alternative with some basic information, useful seminars and an event to start their studies with positive impressions.
In addition to the regular enrolment event, which also took place online and could thus be followed live by the internationals from all over the world, the International Office welcomed the students with a colourful welcome programme.
The Welcome Days started with an introduction to the topic "Living and studying in Berlin" - important information about studying and living in Berlin. The StuPa introduced itself and informed about its important task as an interface between the students and the university. Furthermore, the international students could expect an event to raise their awareness of cultural peculiarities in Germany. Last but not least, the students could look forward to a virtual live sightseeing tour of Berlin. In addition to the virtual sightseeing of Berlin's main attractions, the guide provided information about the special history of Berlin and Germany.
Furthermore, the International Office is organising two online German communication courses for the new internationals, which will start on 27 October 2021. Directly after each lecture, the participants will spend months learning basic grammar, but also how to say hello, go shopping or describe their hobbies in German. And because not only the language but also the customs and traditions are different, the course also includes a little German cultural studies. In this way, the bbw Hochschule makes an important contribution to the integration of our international students.
