We welcome our international students at the Welcome Days!

2023-10-12

The winter semester at bbw University of Applied Sciences began on 1 October. Among the new students are 66 international students from China, India, Iran, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey and Vietnam who have started their Master's programmes in International Technology Transfer Management or Strategic Management in Logistics.

Starting a degree programme marks the beginning of a new chapter in life, with many new and unfamiliar challenges. To ensure that all new international students arrive well at bbw University of Applied Sciences, the International Office organised a comprehensive orientation pro-gramme at the start of this year's winter semester.

Health insurance is an important topic even before the start of studies, which is why the first event on the programme took place at the beginning of September. The statutory health insurance companies AOK Nordost, BARMER and Techniker Krankenkasse TK presented the German health care system to the students and gave advice on student health insurance.

In October, the semester started with the Welcome Days. It started with the introductory event "Welcome from the International Office! Studying and Living in Berlin", where the International Office provided students with important information about studying and living in Berlin and students had the opportunity to get to know each other and the International Office team. On the second day, the interactive workshop "Understanding Germany! Intercultural Training" taught the students about many of the cultural peculiarities of the Germans and gave them important tips on how to deal with them.

The last Welcome Day was divided into two parts: The first was about the university. The administration team greeted the first-year students in the webinar "Welcome from the bbw team! A successful start at bbw". The Student Service Centre, the Exam Management and the elearning Department presented the most important information on enrolment, examinations and Moodle, the bbw University learning portal, and answered the first-year students' questions.

The students then went on a two-hour tour of Berlin - Online. City guide Lee led the live tour past some of Berlin's most famous landmarks and gave exciting historical background information as well as interesting tips on living in Berlin.

We wish all students a good start to their studies and the winter semester 2023/24!
