In the summer semester, bbw University of Applied Sciences is offering a
new bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Management in Human Resource Management. Prof. Dr. Johannes Kirch, Professor of Human Resource Management and Business Management, designed the programme:
"Actively shaping the future - if you want to deal with human resource management in depth during your bachelor's degree, you've come to the right place: our 10 in-depth courses in the field of human resources will make you valuable for your future employers, because they will help you meet current challenges: Digitalisation, demography, changing values."
What distinguishes us from offers that are similar at first glance? The attractive combination:
- A very clear focus on the future topic of Human Resource Management (10 specialisation subjects instead of 3 "token modules").
- Full-time study in six semesters, language of study is German
- High practical focus through two compulsory internships, plus lectures, case studies, specialist debates and excursions.
- Cooperation with the Berlin Brandenburg Business Associations (UVB - federation of the most important employer associations in the region) and other practical partners from the business world ensures that you do not study past your needs and build up an initial network.
- Modern study environment, online planning games, gamification, etc.
- Parallel acquisition of certificates in demand in the economy in cooperation with practice partners ("Basic Competences HR Business Partner"), integration into a network of HR specialists.
- Cooperation with our start-up Center PUSH.
- And last but not least: close and human support (Prof. Dr. Kirch:
"With us you are not just a matriculation number, but are individually supported in your competence development!")
The Human Resource Management degree programme is part of the Department of Economics and Business Management and is offered in the summer and winter semester. After successful completion of the programme, which takes three years or six semesters, graduates receive the academic degree 'Bachelor of Arts'.
The economic foundation is laid in the so-called basic studies. In addition to digital skills, this also includes the basics of business administration and economics, international management and corporate strategy as well as scientific work. This knowledge enables an understanding of economic contexts and the functioning of organisations in the economy.
The competences in the field of Human Resource Management are taught in modules that deal with traditional
human resource topics such as law, co-determination or compensation, but above all core topics such as employer branding, talent management as well as future topics such as change management, leadership development, health management or HR IT and HR Big Data. The orientation of the degree programme prepares students for positions currently in demand in HR management.
The mix of HR management specialisations, the focus on future topics and the strong practical relevance is in demand in the business world. Prof. Dr. Kirch:
"We equip our graduates with the skills they need for a successful start in industrial and service companies, in public administrations and health care institutions as well as personnel service providers - but these skills are also of great value for their own start-up projects!"
