On Monday, 01 July 2019, an event of the bbw University on a current research project in the field of fashion took place in the Haus der Wirtschaft. Prof. Oliver MacConnell welcomed the guests at 5 p.m. and opened the event 'Focus on Fashion and Industry' with exciting insights from his work, as it is well known that the path from the idea to the realisation of a project often leads to new insights.

"We took collection development out of our day-to-day business in order to make innovations possible, and we also gave the people with reservations, who are incredibly important, a right of veto, but didn't let them get involved in collection development and news too early, that was a very important insight. I was particularly pleased that the ZIM project - as the first research project in the field of fashion - gave us at the bbw University and also the medium-sized company that worked with us on the project outside of our day-to-day business the opportunity to approach scientific questions and textile developments with a certain ease with one goal in mind. That impressed me very much and made me very happy".

As a special guest, Prof. MacConnell welcomed Carmen Heidecke, Ministerial Councillor and Head of the ZIM Programme at the BMWi: "As I said, I am particularly pleased that Ms Heidecke from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy is giving a keynote speech today on the topic "From idea to market success"."

Carmen Heidecke's keynote speech was followed by a lively exchange between the guests. The guests rounded off the evening with potato salad, boulettes and a glass or two of Crémant. It was a very successful event with interesting input and great guests.
