Kick-off for New Cooperation - Workshop with the Georgian University SEU

As part of a virtual workshop on the topic of "Research and teaching experience during the pandemic", professors and staff from the bbw Hochschule met with their colleagues from the Georgian National University SEU on 15 June 2021 to get to know each other and exchange experiences.

The special thing about it: the exchange did not only take place online, but the vice rector of the SEU, Professor Dr. Anna Phirtskhalashvili, was herself on site at the bbw Hochschule and moderated the workshop together with bbw managing director Dr. Sascha J. Flemnitz.

After both universities had introduced themselves and their previous international activities, the focus was on the concrete challenges that had to be overcome during the pandemic: From the appropriate technology and infrastructure to appropriate didactic concepts and motivation to overcoming problems such as isolation, overwork and financial bottlenecks among students. It became clear that the challenges on both sides were very similar and that a lot can be learned from each other in the future, especially with regard to the strategies involved (e.g. new conception of courses, hybrid implementation, development of new offers and cooperation with partners from the economy).

On the Georgian side, the workshop was supported by the two vice rectors Prof. Anna Phirtskhalashvili and Prof. George Gavtadze, the professors Prof. Maia Ghvinjilia, Prof. Tengiz Taktakishvili and Prof. Nino Chikovani as well as the head of the International Office Maka Kuchava. On the German side, Managing Director Dr. Sascha J. Flemnitz, Prorector Prof. Uwe Kaschka as well as Prof. Ingo Schünemann, Prof. Oliver MacConnell and Daniela Wolff from the International Office supported the event. Other interested colleagues from both universities also took part.

The event marks the start of a longer-term cooperation that will extend to numerous areas - such as joint courses, academic exchange and cooperation projects. The cooperation was confirmed by the appointment of Prof. Anna Phirtskhalashvili to the Innovation Advisory Board of the Institute for Educational Process Research and Management (IBfBm) at the end of the workshop.
