Hooray, the new term has begun!

The summer semester at bbw University of Applied Sciences started on 1 April. There are 70 new international students from India, Pakistan, Iran, USA, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Tanzania who have started their Masters in International Technology Transfer Management or Strategic Management in Logistics.

Starting a degree programme marks the beginning of a new chapter in life, with many new and unfamiliar challenges. To ensure that all new international students arrive well at bbw University of Applied Sciences, the International Office organised a comprehensive orientation programme for the start of this year's summer semester.

The first part of the programme took place at the beginning of March: The statutory health insurance companies BARMER, AOK Nordost and Techniker Krankenkasse TK presented the German health system to the students and advised them on student health insurance at the information event " Healthy through your studies! Info Event about Health Insurances in Germany".

The Welcome Week took place in April: The International Office kicked off with the introductory event " Welcome from the International Office! Studying and Living in Berlin", where students received important information about studying and living in Berlin and had the opportunity to get to know each other and the International Office team. On the second day, an interactive workshop entitled " Understanding Germany! Intercultural Training" took place, which introduced some of the cultural peculiarities of the Germans and gave important tips on how to deal with them. The next day was all about the university: The administration team introduced themselves in the webinar " Welcome from the bbw team! A successful start at bbw". The Registrar's Office, the Examination Office and the E-Learning Department provided the most important information on enrolment, examinations and Moodle, the bbw learning portal, and answered the questions of the new students. The Welcome Week concluded with a virtual two-hour tour of Berlin. In the spring sunshine, city guide Lee led a live tour of Berlin's most famous attractions, providing historical information and interesting tips about life in Berlin.

Next week, the orientation days for new students will culminate in the Opening Ceremony. Rector Prof. Hafer and Chancellor Ms. Schwill will welcome the students to bbw University of Applied Sciences. Professors and the university team will also be on hand to welcome the students. Due to the move, the enrolment ceremony will take place online only.
