bbw Hochschule supports Ukrainian students to continue their studies

Due to the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine, students and teachers are currently facing special challenges. Many Ukrainian universities are no longer able to offer their full range of courses, as infrastructures and buildings have been destroyed by the war and students and teachers are fleeing or serving in the military.

In order to support the Ukrainian universities in maintaining their courses and to offer students the prospect of a degree despite the restrictions caused by the war, the DAAD is funding the program line "Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis" with funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

bbw Hochschule has acquired third-party funding in the DAAD program "Ukraine digital", which is intended to enable Ukrainian students at the partner university Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport (UkrSURt) to continue their studies. For the coming winter semester, around 65 Ukrainian students at UkrSURt will receive a scholarship. This is intended to help ensure that the students can continue and finance their studies despite the war. Teachers at the Ukrainian partner university also receive funding to enable them to design and continue teaching digitally.

"International academic cooperation and cohesion are more significant than ever in these difficult times. Supporting and strengthening the students and teachers at our Ukrainian partner university UkrSURt both financially and with our digital skills is a special task for our university," says Prof. Rafflenbeul, professor at bbw Hochschule and chairman of the selection committee for awarding the scholarships.
