15th TSM Workshop took place in Berlin

Total Supplier Management Workshop

On 11th November 2021 the 15th TSM Workshop took place at the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences in Berlin - for the first time as a hybrid event. The focus was on "Data management as a motor for successful supplier risk prevention". Workshop leader Prof. Robert Dust welcomed a total of around 45 participants to the event, which was organised in cooperation with the Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V. (BME). A total of five lectures were followed by intensive discussions. After the welcome by Prof. Robert Dust, Ms Karth from the Career Service presented the Degree Programmes of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences. She underlined the practical training in close cooperation with companies.

Host Prof. Robert Dust kicked off the lecture series. In his opening lecture, he explained the importance of data quality for preventive supplier management. Using the holistic approach of Total Supplier Management he showed how data can be transferred to information and thus to valuable knowledge about the supply chain. On this basis the performance and risk of individual suppliers can be evaluated. Erich Graf, Vice President Corporate Procurement of Diehl Controls, then reported from practice how the TSM approach helps him to continuously monitor up to 3.000 suppliers in terms of preventive risk management and to further develop the suppliers.

Martin Grastat, Managing Director of TSM Supply Bridge GmbH, then presented the IT-supported implementation of the TSM tool. He showed the audience how a supplier management system can be set up on the basis of the TSM software - from prevention for the identification of critical suppliers to the timely initiation of improvement measures. In the afternoon Roman Schindlbeck, Head of Projects Master Data Management at the BMW Group, reported on the cooperation with suppliers in product data management in the course of digitalised business models. He referred to the CATENA X Automotive Network, an industry-specific data ecosystem for the automotive industry. At the end of the lecture series Bruno Lukas, owner of the logistics consultancy Green Logistics Enabler (GLE), spoke about sustainable logistics. He talked about climate change, the Corona crisis and the shortage of raw materials as challenges for global supply chains and emphasised the joint responsibility of all participants in the supply chain for sustainable procurement and distribution logistics.

The next TSM Workshop will take place on 06th May 2022. We look forward to seeing you there!
