Opening Ceremony: Welcome to the Winter Semester 2019

The welcoming ceremony for the full-time and dual students of our Bachelor's and Master's programmes took place on Tuesday, 08 October 2019. More than 300 national and international newcomers were received at the Haus der Wirtschaft. The rector Gebhard Hafer, the Chancellor Heide Traemann, the Head of Studies Prof. Dr. Thoralf Buller, Managing Director of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Andreas Forner, as well as the anchor professors, the staff of the University Team, the Student Parlament and the International Office were on site to welcome the new students and introduce themselves to them.

Approximately half of the new students would like to achieve their Master's degree, the other half of the freshmen were enrolled for a Bachelor's degree. Most Bachelor students will work towards their degree in Business Sciences over the next six semesters. The specializations are Health Management, Trade Management and eCommerce, Real Estate Management, Media and Event Management, Fashion Management and Tourism Management. Approx. 30 students start the dual engineering course of studies of Electrical Engineering with the specialization Control and Safety Engineering as well as in the specialization specialisation in Catenary and Railway Power Supply. We are particularly pleased that the newly developed, English-language Business Management and Engineering course has been immatulated with around 20 students.

Among the Master's programmes, International Technology Transfer Management is again the most newly enrolled student. Nevertheless, the Master's programmes Real Estate Project Management, Management of Creative Industries and Strategic Management in Logistics are also very popular. The bbw Hochschule - University of Apllied Sciences is very pleased to also start the Master's programme in Business Sciences with the elective area of International Business Management.

The bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences was not only able to welcome new students. During the opening ceremony, our rector, Prof. Hafer, appointed two new professors. Prof. Dr. Lukas Rafflenbeul, Professor of Industrial Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Ingo Schünemann, Professor of Media Management, are also new at our university for the winter semester and will support us in teaching and developing the university in the future.

The bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences welcomes all newly enrolled students and professors and wishes them an exciting and successful (study) time.
