Ceremonial graduation: graduates of the bbw University of Applied Sciences receive their certificates

On November 9, 2023, the moment had finally arrived: bbw University of Applied Sciences celebrated the graduation ceremony of the graduates in the festive setting of the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus. A total of 196 graduates from the bachelor's and master's programs in the departments of Business Sciences, Business Engineering, and Engineering received their well-deserved certificates with pride.

Initially, the graduates gathered in the dressing room to don their festive robes. Two hours later, the much-anticipated event commenced: the graduation ceremony, undoubtedly the most significant event in a student's life. Ursula Schwill, Chancellor of bbw University, warmly welcomed all present graduates, their friends and family members, as well as all other guests, and officially opened the event. During his laudatory speech, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hafer, Rector of bbw University, addressed motivating words to the graduates: "Now you are academics - that is a big word - and even though the current numbers of academics are increasing, academics are still a selected minority in the entirety of our population - at least in Germany."

This year's keynote address was delivered by Dirk Linn, Managing Director of P-manent Consulting GmbH. In his speech, he shared his professional journey, recounting his personal story and insights with the audience. The atmosphere was then complemented by an enchanting musical performance by Annika Sefterhen and Louis Haas.

The highlight of the day arrived: the presentation of certificates! In groups, the graduates were called onto the stage by Ursula Schwill based on their completed degree program. An enthusiastic applause from the attendees accompanied them as they walked on stage to receive their certificates from their program director. Subsequently, the outstanding achievements of the students were acknowledged: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hafer and Dirk Linn honored the top performers of the year and the program in both the bachelor's and master's categories. This was followed by another musical performance by the fantastic music duo. Dr. Lucht and Anastija Radke, Managing Partner of KVL Group, awarded the winners of the prize for the best bachelor's and master's theses in the field of real estate management. On behalf of all graduates, Malou Vasseghi, graduate of the Corporate Communication program, delivered a heartfelt thank-you speech.

Before the graduates could raise a toast to their accomplishments alongside their families, friends, professors, and staff of bbw University, the traditional cap-tossing ceremony took place.
