Welcome new bbw students!
The summer semester at bbw University of Applied Sciences started on 1 April. We welcome 77 students from Armenia, Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Mexico, Pakistan and Turkey. They are starting their Master's programmes in International Technology Transfer Management, Strategic Management in Logistics and, for the first time, Sustainability and Smart Building Technology.
The semester traditionally begins with Welcome Days. The International Office's comprehensive orientation programme provides international first-year students with the best possible preparation for the challenges of this new chapter in their lives. As not all students were able to travel to Berlin, the Welcome Days took place online.
The week kicked off with the introductory event
"Welcome from the International Office! Studying and Living in Berlin", where the International Office provided students with important information about studying and living in Berlin. It was also an opportunity for students to get to know each other and the International Office team.
The second day began with
the official Opening Ceremony. During the online event, Moritz Müller, Head of University Administration, and the newly appointed Rector, Prof. Robert Dust, welcomed the new students to bbw University.
Immediately afterwards, the administration team welcomed the first semester students in the webinar
"Welcome from the bbw team! A successful start at bbw". The Student Service Centre, the Examination Management and the eLearning Department presented the most important information about enrolment, exams and Moodle, the learning portal of bbw University, and answered the questions of the new students.
On the third day, the interactive workshop
"Understanding Germany! Intercultural Training", the students learned about some of the cultural peculiarities of the Germans and were given important tips on how to deal with them.
On the last Welcome Day, the students went on a
two-hour tour of Berlin - Online. City guide Lee gave a live tour of Berlin's most famous attractions and provided interesting tips on living in Berlin as well as fascinating historical background information.
We wish all students a good start to their studies and the summer term 2024!
