A very special welcome ceremony: bbw Hochschule welcomes the new students for the winter semester!

Welcoming Ceremony for the Winter Semester 2020/21
Welcoming Ceremony for the Winter Semester 2020/21

From the 1st of October to the 8th of October 2020, the new students enrolled in the winter semester 2020/2021 were welcomed in small groups in hybrid courses.

While the summer semester 2020 started completely online and the welcome ceremony for the new students unfortunately had to be cancelled due to corona, the students of the new semester could be welcomed personally under special hygiene regulations. Those who were not able to come to the university could join the welcome ceremony online from home.

The university management, professors and staff of bbw Hochschule were very pleased to welcome the new students of the winter semester 2020/2021 in person. Under special hygiene regulations and in compliance with the hygiene concept, national and international students were welcomed in small groups last week. The dual students started on Thursday, the 1st of October, followed by the full-time and part-time students. Even those who did not have the chance to attend an enrollment ceremony in the summer semester were welcomed to the second semester by a small team from bbw Hochschule. Since the welcoming events could only be held on a small scale with minimum distance and appropriate hygiene conditions, the courses were offered in hybrid form. This made it possible for students to follow the event from home. Hybrid events are also planned for the coming semester, so that the semester will consist of both online and classroom teaching.

Around 60 percent of those starting their studies are aiming for a Bachelor's degree. The majority of aspiring Bachelor's students will study in the field of economics. Their interests range from Health, Fashion, Real Estate and Tourism Management to Trade Management and eCommerce and also Media and Event Management. In addition to Digital Industry 4.0, the English-language Business Management and Engineering programme is also starting in the field of Industrial Engineering. Around 40 students are starting an Electrical Engineering degree course in the field of Engineering, 15 of them are taking a part-time course, the rest are taking a dual degree course in Electrical Engineering specialising in Control and Rail Automation Technology as well as Traction Power Supply and Trolley Systems. bbw Hochschule is particularly pleased about the almost 20 students who have chosen the newly designed course Corporate Communications. The course was added to the bbw Hochschule's curriculum in the middle of the year and will start in the winter semester 2020/2021.

The students who will work towards their Master's degree within the next two years will be divided into two English-language programmes: International Technology Transfer Management and Strategic Management in Logistics, as well as the German-language Real Estate Project Management programme.

bbw Hochschule welcomes all newly enrolled students and wishes them a successful study programme. We're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll soon be able to open all doors at bbw Hochschule again completely and slowly but surely return to normal operations. Until then, stay healthy!
