Statement on the summer semester by Prof. Hafer

Due to the current situation and the new challenges we all have to face, the Rector of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hafer, would like to welcome you on the digital way to the start of the summer semester 2020.

"Dear students,
dear friends of our university,

the world has changed a lot in the past few weeks. The COVID 19 pandemic affects all of us, whether we live in Germany or in China, in Italy or in India, in USA or in Russia. We are currently worried about relatives, friends and partners. Protecting health is the most important thing we can currently do. Studying is therefore certainly moving a little into the background.

The new summer semester for full-time students begins today. Our part-time students have started a few weeks earlier already. First of all, we would like to warmly welcome all newly enrolled students to our university. We are very pleased that so many new students have chosen our university. Unfortunately, I and the entire team at the university cannot greet you personally today, because the protection of health is our priority. Attending classes in our university buildings is currently not possible, but we are well prepared for you, dear students.

Since our university was founded we have taught a considerable part of the lessons via our eLearning platform Moodle. We were one of the first universities in Berlin, that has established this technology. In addition, we now introduced the digital platform WebEx for online lectures and online seminars. In the next few weeks, maybe even months, we will use only these online platforms and enable you to complete your degrees as planned.

So we are completely online now, we are ready to start the new semester and hope you will like these new technologies.

Please stay healthy, keep the necessary personal distance to each other and take care about the health of your relatives, friends and partners."
