The study programme Economics and Business Management - Human Resource Management trains the personnel professionals of tomorrow. The occupational profile is confronted with constant change. Demographic change, digitalisation and changing values characterise the environment. The human resource professionals support their organisations with solutions from the topic spectrum of human resource management in order to master these challenges and achieve their goals. On the basis of the economic fundamentals they learn, tomorrow's HR professionals gain a fundamental understanding of economics, so that they can understand the language of their future customers from other departments or other organisations and offer the appropriate solutions. To ensure that these personnel-specific offers are strategically, professionally, legally and organisationally sound, this specialist knowledge is taught in ten modules. These cover traditional HR topics such as law, co-determination or remuneration, but above all core topics such as employer branding, talent management as well as future topics such as change management, executive development, health management or HR IT and HR Big Data.

Students are also enabled to analyse and evaluate the knowledge they have acquired, and to modify and implement it in specific situations through their presentation, communication and leadership skills. Because only HR professionals who are taken seriously by their personality can make a valuable contribution to mastering the upcoming challenges in business.

Successful completion of the programme qualifies students for responsible jobs and potential management positions in areas such as personnel development, recruitment and selection, labour and social security law, working time management and many other areas of personnel management. The skills imparted form the basis for a career start in a wide range of industries. Because nowadays, every organisation is dependent on qualified junior staff in the field of personnel management, who can make the difference in meeting the challenges ahead.

Recognition of already completed academic achievements
Achievements already made within the framework of other training courses can be recognised after an individual examination and lead to a shortening of the study period.

  • according to Section 11 Berlin University Act:
  • a vocational qualification eligible for the course of studies, together with at least three years of professional experience or
  • a qualification as Meister/in [master technician], state certified technician, certified business administrator

The economic fundamentals contribute to the understanding of economic interrelationships and the functioning of organisations in the economy. In the ten personnel-specific modules, the in-depth knowledge of the respective contents is dealt with extensively. The mix of topics conveyed corresponds to the current requirements of companies. The orientation of the programme prepares students for positions in personnel management that are currently in demand. Experts from the business world bring real cases from practice into the teaching and thus increase the solution-oriented work of the students. This mixture of a broad HR management specialisation, the focus on future topics and the strong link to practice is in demand in the business world - and thus ensures significantly higher career entry and promotion opportunities for graduates.
