Science Council confirms direction of bbw Hochschule

The bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences in Berlin once again meets all the requirements of a modern university in the areas of teaching and research. After an intensive examination, the German Science Council has now certified this and granted re-accreditation. The Council thus acknowledges the achievements of the bbw University and the development planned for the next five years.

"The verdict of the Science Council is a strong testimony to the positive development of the bbw Hochschule in recent years," explained the Rector, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gebhard Hafer. "This strengthens us especially in these challenging times."Christian Amsinck, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and General Manager of the Berlin-Brandenburg Business Associations (UVB), also welcomed the results of the audit. "The demands of the economy in the capital region on the qualification of its specialists are increasing.The verdict of the Science Council confirms to the companies that they have an efficient partner at their side in the bbw Hochschule.

Dr. Sascha J. Flemnitz, bbw Managing Partner, says: "We are very pleased with the positive result of the re-accreditation. The associated quality seal stands for high-quality academic training and professional work processes at the university. It also ensures that the conditions for state recognition of our university, its degree programs and degrees will continue to be met".

With over 1,200 students, bbw Hochschule is one of the largest private universities in Berlin and Brandenburg. It is part of the Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft in Berlin and Brandenburg and works closely with the Berlin-Brandenburg business associations. The business-related and international study program includes business administration, industrial engineering and engineering science courses, which can be completed full-time, part-time or dual. In addition, the bbw Hochschule runs application-oriented contract and third-party funded research projects.

The Science Council is the most important science policy advisory body in Germany. It regularly reviews non-university research institutions, church and private universities, including the bbw Hochschule. Accreditation serves to ensure quality and shows employers and students that an institution is scientifically efficient.

The bbw Hochschule will "continue to do justice to its claim of wanting to cover the demand for skilled workers in Berlin and Brandenburg", the Science Council explains its decision. The courses of study are geared to the job market, and the expansion into new, related fields "fits coherently into the university's profile and takes into account the university's existing market opportunities". The university convincingly implements its practice-oriented profile in teaching and studies. The Science Council also recognized that it has expanded its research activities. In electrical engineering and in some other areas, the research achievements are particularly outstanding.
