The German Transportation Science Society (DVWG) held a summer party yesterday in collaboration with bbw University of Applied Sciences.
Berlin, 27/06/2014 The German Transportation Science Society (DVWG) again held its summer party yesterday in collaboration with bbw University of Applied Sciences.
bbw University of Applied Sciences welcomed numerous guests from the business community, politics and science in Berlin and Brandenburg to their roof-top terrace, which has a spectacular view over the rooftops of Berlin. Some of the guests in attendance included representatives of the Deutschen Bahn, VBB, Bombardier Transportation, the national association eMobilität e.V., INNOZ and ex PTV AG.
The programme included interesting presentations on the topics of 3D printing and the future of logistics, and the participants enjoyed watching the World Cup match between Germany and the USA together on a large screen.
The Vice-Chancellor bbw University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing Gebhard Hafer, was the first to welcome the guests to the event.
Petra Nienaber, a consultant of IGES Institut GmbH for the field of mobility and member of DVWG, gave the next welcoming speech. She stressed how important the link between academia and business is and stated that this was a top priority at DVWG.
This speech was followed by presentations from Prof. Dr.-Ing. René Brunotte, Director of the 'fib' Research Institute of bbw University of Applied Sciences, who spoke on the topic of the future of 3D printing, and by two students at bbw University of Applied Sciences, Mr Toni Schucht and Dario Bloch. They spoke about the opportunities and risks of E-mobility in the road haulage industry and summarised the infrastructures for E-mobility. Professor Brunotte gave a demonstration during his presentation using the fib's own 3D printer.
Afterwards, the guests' focus of attention was on the LED screen where they could watch a sports match together with the bbw students in attendance at the event. They celebrated the German national team's win over the USA, which meant that they qualified for the next round of the World Cup games.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the event and we already look forward to our next joint summer party next year.
