Prof. Dr. Schmedes is an expert in international project management, particularly for the Indian real estate market and sports facility construction. After working as a branch manager for gmp International in Dubai and then as a partner for Foster + Partners in London and India, Schmedes founded "German Project Management India" in Mumbai in 2009. The office is responsible for project management for both German and Indian clients.
He completed part-time doctoral studies at Cardiff University's Welsh School of Architecture in 2015, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. During his studies, he was awarded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Postgraduate Scholarship. Schmedes' doctoral research explored ways to maximize the sustainability of the Olympic Games for urban development.
