The management of bbw Hochschule will be strengthened for future-oriented teaching, research and academic continuing education
A week ago, the Academic Senate of bbw Hochschule unanimously elected them - and they have been in office since today: Prof. Dr. Beate Schultz-Zehden was appointed as Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Teaching. As such, she will in future represent the acting Rector, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gebhard Hafer. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Zahn will strengthen the university management as Vice Rector for Research and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Kaschka as Vice Rector for Further Academic Education.
Even before the 4.0 pandemic, the region's companies attached great importance to highly qualified junior specialists and executives with a view to the 4.0 world of work. Now the pandemic may have raised the bar even higher for the quality of academic education and continuing education. But bbw Hochschule need not fear this. It is well positioned. It has started the winter semester 20/21 with a completely restructured, expanded and deepened range of study and research programmes, which have already been completely restructured, expanded and deepened over the past two years for the development of new competence profiles. It is now also organisationally fit to cope with the demands of a study programme with more than 1,200 students and 19 engineering, business administration and industrial engineering programmes.
"Given the dynamics in our social and economic environment and the high expectations of the business community, it is very important that we keep pace as an academic organisation and use our potential properly. This is why now was the right time to entrust three Vice Rectors with strategic development areas at our university," says
Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing Hafer.
According to the Berlin Higher Education Act, Vice Rectors support the President or Rector in fulfilling his or her duties as academic director of a university. As a rule, one of the prorectors acts as the official representative of the rector in the latter's absence. The term of office is two years, but ends at the latest with the Rector's term of office - re-election is possible.
Prof. Hafer: "I am pleased that three proven university teachers have been elected by the Academic Senate of our university to the office of Vice Rector with a convincing result. The neuroscientist, data scientist and founder,
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Zahn, has established application-oriented research at our university and in teaching with a very successful development work in the past years and thus recommended himself as Research Vice Rector. With
Prof. Dr. Beate Schultz-Zehden, we have also succeeded in competently strengthening our university management with a highly esteemed colleague, an expert in health management. With
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Kaschka, a university lecturer and specialist for innovation and technology transfer was appointed, who is predestined for the expansion of Further Academic Education at our university due to his professional network and his teaching experience".
