Who we are

As an accredited and state-recognized university, we see ourselves as the ideal link between practice-oriented academic study and companies' real-world demand for skilled professionals and managers.

With lecturers from the business world, applied research projects and our own start-up centre on our modern campus, hands-on relevance is guaranteed throughout your studies.

Whether part-time, dual or full-time - our range of degree programs in business, industrial engineering and engineering offers everything you need for an individual course of study and a successful start to your career.

What sets us apart?

  • Our practical orientation
Alongside their teaching, our professors and lecturers hold specialist and management positions in companies, bringing with them a wealth of experience from start-ups and applied research projects.
  • Close ties to business and industry
We develop our range of programs from the real needs of the Berlin and Brandenburg economy, thereby creating the ideal link between academic education and existing professional profiles.
  • Our open-mindedness
A large proportion of our students come from all parts of the world and are prepared for a working and living environment that is international, diverse and interconnected. For us, open-mindedness means more than just international marketing or English-language degree programs: it is shaped by attitude, culture and concrete opportunities.

Mission Statement & Vision

We educate the skilled professionals and managers that the economy of tomorrow needs – practice-oriented, international and with a clear set of values.

As one of the largest private, state-recognized universities in Berlin and Brandenburg, bbw Hochschule is based in and rooted in the region. All of its activities, including those it pursues outside Berlin and Brandenburg, follow the goal of supplying business and industry with skilled professionals and managers while at the same time opening the path to an academic education for young people from all over the world.

Through the academic and cultural internationalization of higher education, bbw Hochschule promotes the mobility of students, teaching staff and administrative personnel while strengthening the quality of its degree programs at the same time.

These objectives are achieved through the advancement of digitalization, which as a cross-cutting function is therefore a core task of bbw Hochschule. As the university of business, for business, bbw Hochschule sees further core tasks in taking sustainability and diversity into account both within its various degree programs and projects and in its day-to-day work.

The key elements of bbw Hochschule's mission statement are in line with the current requirements of European and German education policy.

Accreditation & Quality

bbw Hochschule is state-recognized and offers accredited degree programs that meet national and international standards. In a rigorous review procedure, the Accreditation Council Foundation, which is responsible for quality assurance and development in higher education, analyzed and certified the entire internal quality assurance system of bbw Hochschule. bbw Hochschule was able to demonstrate that it is itself able to ensure the quality of its degree programs on a lasting basis. At bbw Hochschule, this is guaranteed, among other things, by the standing Quality Commission (sQK), which draws on external and internal expertise. Only about one in four universities holds such a system accreditation. bbw Hochschule is system-accredited until 2030.

On matters of accreditation, bbw Hochschule also cooperates with FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). FIBAA reviews the degree programs comprehensively with regard to their content, structure, teaching methods and practical orientation. This recognition ensures that the university offers high-quality, practice-oriented and future-focused degree programs that meet the requirements of both students and the labour market.

Particular emphasis is placed on the quality of teaching, in order to provide students with optimal support and ideal conditions for successful learning. Students at bbw Hochschule therefore benefit from a recognized degree and from a course of study that is continuously adapted to current developments.

bbw Group

bbw Hochschule is part of the bbw Group – one of the largest private education providers in Berlin and Brandenburg.

The bbw Group is the strong foundation of bbw Hochschule. Since its establishment, bbw Hochschule has been supported by the largest company in the bbw Group, bbw Akademie für Betriebswirtschaftliche Weiterbildung GmbH.

The bbw Group – in which, alongside bbw Akademie, three further independent, non-profit companies are joined together as bbw Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft in Berlin and Brandenburg – is part of a broad national and international network of partner companies, associations and institutions from many sectors of the economy, culture and science. bbw Hochschule can draw on this network.

For 50 years now, bbw has been a professional education partner for the companies of the region, offering a comprehensive range of education and consulting services. At the same time, the bbw Group stands alongside public-sector clients and supports their active labour-market policy with innovative concepts for vocational education at all levels - from career orientation and pre-vocational training, through initial training, continuing education and further training, retraining, all the way to university study.
