Prof. Dr. Diethelm Fröse has been with bbw University since October 2015 and has headed the Engineering subject group since December 2017. The physicist, who holds a doctorate from the University of Stuttgart, worked for many years in industrial analytical measurement technology and is the founder of Dr. Fröse Software Solutions.

Academic Background

  • 16 June 1995: Awarded the academic degree Dr. rer. nat.; dissertation: “Production and analysis of buried nitride layers in Si / SiO2 / SIMOX systems using ion beam methods”. A key part of the work was the development of new analysis software for ion beam experiments (implantation, RBS, NRA, PIXE) as well as the construction of accelerator beam guidance
  • 7 February 1991: Awarded the Diplom degree. Thesis: “Investigation of the implantation of carbon in silicon” at the Institute of Semiconductor Engineering, University of Stuttgart. Expertise in semiconductor technology (wet/dry), CVD, sputtering as well as ion beam methods and optical methods for thickness characterisation

  • 1 August 2011 – 30 September 2015: Employed as Light Scattering Specialist at Postnova Analytics GmbH, Landsberg/Lech, working from a Berlin home office. Commercial hardware and software development, implementation of mathematical methods, customer support and training, coordination of development and manufacturing. Fields: FFF, GPC, light scattering, colloidal analysis methods
  • 1 January 2011 – 31 July 2011: Employed as a trainer at BBZ Chemie, Bildungswerk Nordostchemie e.V., Adlergestell 133
  • Since 1 June 2006: Founder of Dr. Fröse Software Solutions. Self-employed in the development of analytical instruments and customer-specific software, consulting and training. Author of the M.A.I.S. program for automated analysis of light scattering experiments; developer of the Cerberus light scattering detector

Responsibilities: investigation of the colloidal properties of homogenised mistletoe extracts using static light scattering, GPC and flow field-flow fractionation, development of analysis and control software as well as hardware development
