Research fib Research Institute

The bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences is accredited by the German Council for Science and Humanities - the most important scientific policy advisory panel in Germany - and likewise recognised both nationally and internationally. The German Science Council commended the overall successful establishment and expansion of the University, its practical orientation, the range of study programmes in keeping with its third-level education profile, the solid financial planning, the extensive network of co-operation partners from industry and the application-based research plans.

The bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences' Research Institute

The fib Research Institute of the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences serves application-oriented research, research teaching and learning as well as knowledge and technology transfer.

You can benefit from it. As a research institute of the bbw Hchschule - University of Applied Sciences, the fib offers a wide range of research expertise and capacities to small and medium-sized companies in the Berlin-Brandenburg region in particular. In order to solve your practical problems with our scientific methods, the fib research institute will gladly accept your order for a research project at a fair price.

Our aim is to link research questions and concepts closely with the practice and to involve students. This happens, for example, through student consulting projects that take place in cooperation with the university and the company.

These are our aims:
  • Knowledge and technology transfer from research into practice
  • Strengthening the link between teaching and research
  • Strengthening research funding and contract research
  • Coordination of all research activities of the university
  • publication of scientific results, e.g., in a biennial research report from the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences

Combining research and teaching

Veranstaltung des fib Forschungsinstitutes der bbw Hochschule

New accents were set during the reporting period in the combination of research and teaching at the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences. For example, the research results from the DiNöB project on digital narration were used directly in the courses given at the bbw Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences.

The aim is to find emotional access to economic topics for learners. The didactic method of narration made this possible - it combines cognitive with affective learning. With the help of stories that relate to the concrete working and living environments of the learners, complex contexts, their relevance for one's own life as well as the meaningfulness of the discussion with them can be made clear.

In addition, a process was established together with the student parliament for the digital announcement and filling of positions for academic assistants, so that bbw students can be directly involved in research projects and gradually introduced to practical academic work through studies, bachelor's and master's theses within the framework of research projects, and motivated to professional academic work and their own publications.
