Information for students

Payment options for tuition fees

Students based in Germany and the rest of the EU pay by SEPA bank transfer. If you are paying from outside the EU, we recommend using Flywire.

Traditional bank transfer

For students from Germany and other EU countries, a bank transfer is the usual route. You will receive an invoice from the Student Service Center stating the amount and the payment deadline; please transfer the amount to the account below by that date.

Always add the payment reference

So that your payment can be matched to your account, copy the reference details from your invoice into the reference line of the transfer – your full name and your matriculation number. Without them the incoming payment has to be traced by hand, which delays processing.

Flywire – recommended for international payments

International transfers are often expensive and hard to follow: intermediary banks deduct fees, the exchange rate is only confirmed after the fact, and the amount that arrives is not the amount you sent. For students paying from non-EU countries, bbw Hochschule therefore works with Flywire.

Through Flywire you pay in your local currency using payment methods that are common in your home country. Fees and the exchange rate are shown before you confirm the payment, and the university receives exactly the invoiced amount in euros.

What Flywire gives you

Cost

The process is fast and usually cheaper than a conventional international transfer routed through several correspondent banks.

Ease of use

Payments are encrypted and the whole process works on a mobile phone.

Control

You can see where your payment is in real time, without having to call your bank.

Transparency

Fees and the exchange rate are fixed before you pay. Nothing is deducted along the way.

Payment options

Besides bank transfer, you can use local payment methods that are familiar from your home country.

Exchange rate

The rate is held for the duration of the transaction, so individual banks cannot add inflated margins.
