Indian ambassador gives speech at graduation ceremony 2018

Absolventenfeier Winter 2018

Almost 200 bachelor and master graduates of the year 2018 celebrated their degree at the bbw University on 16 November - as in the previous year at the Maritim pro Arte in Berlin's Friedrichstraße. Traditionally dressed in gowns and hats, they were taken to their seats by the rector and head of studies on this day - right at the front of the Festsaal. They were congratulated on their success and, with many good wishes for the future, were sent off into the professional world for which they prepared their studies in the best possible way.

This year, the university management was able to win a very special guest of honour and high-ranking keynote speaker for the speech - the Indian Ambassador to Germany, Her Excellency Mukta Dutta Tomar. There are two good reasons why the ambassador from one of the world's most populous countries followed the invitation of the bbw University with exceptionally high economic growth: After two years of master's studies, the first graduates of our master's program "International Technology Transfer Management (ITTM)" could be said goodbye a few weeks ago - most of them coming from India. And a new, far-reaching cooperation agreement for joint research activities and the exchange of students and university staff between one of India's most prestigious universities, the Indian Institute of Technology IIT (Delhi) and bbw University, has just been signed (see also press release). In very personal words to the graduates and their families, the ambassador paid tribute to her home country and its enormous economic development in recent years. She spoke about the current industrial revolution and its worldwide changes, which will not be manageable with traditional know-how. One should not be blinded by all the catchwords, but those who want to successfully help shape the new development must adapt to these processes of change - an international course of study in a country like Germany, which is world-famous for its engineering, is the right step for it. "Strive to become a citizen of the world... Maintain your ambition to make the world a little better than it is today," she said.

Almost 200 Bachelor's and Master's degrees were then applauded and acclaimed by friends and families for their certificates and diplomas, which were presented to them by their anchor professors, the rector of the university or the ambassador. For the first time, the international graduates of the English-language Master's programme in Management of Creative Industries, which the bbw University has also been offering very successfully for the past two years, were there for the first time, in addition to graduates of economics, engineering and industrial engineering.
